Overview
Chest pain, medically known as pleurodynia, is a common symptom that can be caused by underlying conditions. Symptoms include chest discomfort or sharp, stabbing sensations. Although chest pain can be frightening, it is not always a sign of serious heart disease. Causes can range from nerve tension, anxiety, or heart failure to more serious issues such as angina, heart attack, or inflammation of the peritoneum (pleurisy) Identifying the cause is important for treatment well.
